What? handivi is the conjunction between what's in everyone's 'hand' and it's ind'ivi'dual - the mobile device. With handivi we're helping you to have an easy way to see and share media with your close connections. On every pocket, in your mobile phone, handivi keeps you in touch with your friends and family, increasing your social awareness. It's an application for the vast majority of 3G phones, replacing the phone's built-in social applications, with a global service, always accessible and available when you need to take pictures or send text and, with one click, get your family or friends involved in your life. Telling your story will never again be expensive and complicated: handivi is free for everyone! But we have a subscription plan with premium features for those who want a far better experience, with no limits nor ads, but allowing you to send messages to regular phones, address book backup services and access to your original size photos.

How? handivi runs on Java(tm) enabled phones. We recommend that you use a 3G connection, with a data plan, because you'll be tapping into a rich social experience. After installing our mobile application on your phone, you'll be able to create and share experiences right away, independently from where you are or on what mobile network you use. On the website you have access to all your data and are able to browse what your network is sharing.

Our first focus is the low range mobile phones, giving everyone an equal mobile experience. For now our application is built for J2ME mobile phones, so it will not run on iPhone or Android phones, not now though, since we're working hard to get full support on both platforms. Under the hood handivi is built upon J2ME and it's running on: Amazon Web Services, with Linux machines, Postgresql and CouchDB databases, Apache webservers and Perlbal balancers. Python is used as the serverside glue, along with django and activemq. Our architecture was built to scale from day one and has redundant data safeguards and plans.

What's next? Our long term plan is to offer you an ubiquitous mobile service by replacing all mobile phone social features with handivi services, available anywhere and where people can communicative, involve and share life short moments - the easiest and cheapest way.
